One of Hong Kong’s best-known cha chaan tengs, Waso Cafe, is now open at Galaxy Macau. It is the only place in Macau to enjoy the restaurant’s much adored signature dishes, as well as exclusive Macau specials. Formerly known as “Yau Wo Ice Room” and run by Waso’s father, the original café is located at the Ping Shan Heritage Trail in Yuen Long, Hong Kong. In 2010, Waso took it over and renamed it “Waso Cafe". Since then, the cafe has become a beloved gathering place for locals, tourists and even celebrities.
The iconic combo – signature pineapple bun and iced milk tea – needs no introduction. The restaurant has also perfected the art of comfort food by enhancing their noodle soup with family recipes. Their Pork Liver and Beef Noodle Soup is a perfect example. Also, on the menu are “soy sauce western dishes” that exemplify Hong Kong’s “east-meets-west” culinary culture. Must-tries include “Soft Bun with Corned Beef, Cheese and Egg”, and an ice cream float endearingly known as “the Black Cow”. Be sure to order the Macau-only specials such as “Toast with Chorizo and Egg” and “Souffle with Chocolate Sauce” that marry local Macanese flavors with the traditional cha chaan teng experience.
Evoking Hong Kong “ice rooms” of yesteryear, Waso Cafe also features a wall full of Cantonese slangs – the perfect backdrop for capturing your delicious moments. Under the watchful eye of Waso who adheres to her father’s recipes, you can trust that every bite will transport you to the vibrant heart of Hong Kong’s culinary heritage.
